Organic Rosehip Oil is considered a dry oil as it is absorbed by the skin very quickly and virtually disappears, so you won’t get that greasy feeling. It’s packed full of skin loving nutrients and is ideal for those with mature skin.
Organic Apricot Kernel is a light oil rich in essential fatty acids and is absorbed by the skin quite quickly. It’s a great addition to a body butter as it boosts moisturisation and is naturally rich in Vitamin E.
And finally Rose Otto, the glorious and romantic scent of roses, not only brings with it the beautiful fragrance, but it has skincare benefits too. Known for being beneficial to those with mature skin, this extremely potent and powerful oil has a very low dermal limit. This is why in this recipe we have chosen to use the Rose Otto dilution in Sweet Almond.
Natural Vitamin E is an antioxidant, it helps to prolong the life of oils by reducing oxidisation, and it’s good for your skin too.
So now you know a little bit about the ingredients, let’s get down to business. It is really quite simple to make and is completely natural.
Gently melt the butters on a double boiler, a heat proof bowl on a pan of simmering water. Remove from the heat once fully melted and allow to cool for a few minutes. Rosehip Oil is heat sensitive, so you don’t want to add the Rosehip to hot butter as it destroys all the wonderful goodness. Add the liquid oils and Vitamin E and mix well. Lastly add in the Rose Otto dilution. Pop the mixture in the fridge for it to solidify to a nice firm butter consistency. This can take up to an hour. Use the electric whisk to whip the butter until you have a light, fluffy cream like texture. Transfer the mix into your jar and label. Store the butter in a cool dark place.
Your whipped body butter can simply be used as an all over body moisturiser. Massage into your skin after a shower or bath.
