Make You Own Beard Oil & Beard Wax

We take beard care very seriously here at Naissance. So much so, we've designed another recipe for you to get the ultimate beard!

There are so many products out there to choose from for beard care, waxes, oils, serums etc. How do you know which one to choose? Well this blog gives you a 2 in 1 recipe to make your own beard oil AND beard wax, at home using all-natural ingredients. And you'll know exactly what's in it, as you made it yourself.

So, let me tell you a little about the ingredients chosen for these beard care products.

Both Jojoba and Grapeseed Oil are absorbed pretty quickly by skin and hair, so you won't be left with a super greasy beard. They are both packed with essential fatty acids and vitamins, which make these oils great for hair health and shine.

Beeswax is the ingredient that gives the beard wax its firm consistency. Beeswax helps create a protective layer on the hair, protecting against environmental elements. It also makes the beard look super soft and smooth and tames the frizz!

We have used Cypress Essential Oil for this recipe for its woody scent and calming properties. You can use switch out the Cypress Oil for another essential oil if you like. We also love Cedarwood Atlas #187, Lemon #103 or Sandalwood #161.

What you will need

  • A saucepan
  • A heatproof dish/bowl
  • Small measuring jug
  • Small Bowl
  • Stirrer/spoon
  • Weighing scales
  • Amber glass bottle with pipette
  • 2 small lips balm tins

Ingredients

30ml Grapeseed Oil #210
20ml Jojoba Golden Oil #233
10ml Natural Vitamin E #807
1ml (approx. 20 drops) Cypress Essential Oil #114
6g Beeswax #307

Method

Step 1 - The Beard Oil

1  Combine the Grapeseed, Jojoba, Natural Vitamin E and Cypress Oil in the small jug and mix well with the stirrer.
2  Pour 20ml of the oil mix into a separate bowl (this will be used in the wax recipe).
3  Pour the rest of the oil mix into the glass amber bottle, put the lid on and label.

Step 2 - The Beard Wax

1  Place the saucepan on the heat, filled about a quarter full of water and bring water to the boil.
2  Reduce heat to a simmer and place your heatproof bowl on the saucepan, making sure the water doesn't touch the bottom of the bowl.
3  Place the Beeswax in the bowl to gently melt until it is liquid.
4  Add the oil mix (from step 1) to the wax and stir until it is fully combined.
5  Turn off the heat and carefully remove bowl from the pan. Take extra care as the bowl and oil mix will be hot.
6  Pour the mixture into the lip balm tins and leave to cool. Once set they are ready to use.

How to use

Beard oil - use the pipette to add 3-5 drops of the oil into the palm of your hand and rubs palms together to warm the oil. Apply through your beard from roots to tip, working through all the hair. Use once a day.

Beard wax - Using your finger, scoop a small amount of wax from the tin and rub it between your palms to warm the wax. Work through your moustache and beard and style as desired. These tins are handy pocket-sized tins and ideal for when you're out and about. Use once a day.

Okay so there you have the 2 in 1 beard care recipe. It's pretty simple and fun to do. These make ideal gifts for a friend or loved one with facial hair, so why not give it a go?
