Fun things to make with your kids
Our favourite things to make with your kids
Keeping your kids occupied can sometimes be difficult, but when you find something both you and your little ones can enjoy, it can feel like a miracle.
Keeping that in mind, we have some crafty ideas to keep the whole family entertained with our products over the school holidays. (Please ensure children are supervised while doing these fun activities as essential oils are included).
Bedtime Body Butter
Our bedtime body butter recipe contains some great organic ingredients including lavender essential oil, which is one of the most versatile essential oils available. It helps relieve stress and anxiety, and can calm the mind especially at bedtime. Kids will love making this super fun whipped body butter as it smells fantastic and once made can be incorporated into a bedtime routine with snuggles and stories for a restful night's sleep. Not just for kids this body butter is great for grownups too.
Why not decorate and personalise your jars when you're done and gift them to your friends and family as beautiful handmade gifts? (or keep them all to yourself).
To make this luxurious body butter you will need:
• Organic Shea Butter Refined 100g
• Organic Coconut Virgin 100g
• Organic Cocoa butter unrefined 40g
• Natural Vitamin E 5ml
• Apricot Kernel Oil 95ml
• Organic Lavender Essential Oils 15 drops
• Marjoram Essential Oil 20 drops
• Organic Orange essential Oil 30 drops
• Kaolin/corn flour/tapioca flour 5g
What you'll need:
• A large mixing bowl
• A glass or metal bowl
• A mixing spoon
• Electric whisk (or a hand whisk but the mixture will be less fluffy)
• 4-5 100ml jars or 2-3 larger jars
Fill a saucepan ¼ full of water, place on the hob and bring to the boil.
Reduce the heat to a simmer and place the bowl in the saucepan. Add your cocoa butter and melt while stirring continuously. Next add your Shea butter until melted and finally your coconut oil. Once all the ingredients are melted turn off the heat and carefully remove your bowl from the saucepan.
Pour the mixture into a bowl (be careful as the mixture will be very hot) and add your Apricot Kernel Oil and Vitamin E. If you are opting to use 5g of kaolin clay, corn flour or tapioca flour, you can add that at this stage. Whisk thoroughly for 1-2 minutes until all ingredients are mixed.
Place in the fridge to chill until your mixture is semi solid. This could take between 45 minutes and two hours.
Get your mixture from the fridge and whisk for around 5-6 minutes. Your mixture will turn into a pale cream colour and its texture will become lovely and creamy. Finally add your drops of essential oils to the mixture and whisk until combined.
Pour your mixture into your jars, pop the lids on and get ready to enjoy!
