Nature is waking up to Spring and so are we

It seemed a cruel way to celebrate spring, one less hour in bed, but with a swathe of warm weather blessing the UK over the last couple of weeks, what could be better than waking up early.

And with the longer days and shorter nights, increasing temperatures and decreasing rainfall (crosses fingers for Wales), we feel more energetic, we start to plan, our motivation rises and we smile more. However, all that sunlight rushing through the windows also highlights the dust, the stains and the mould. Hopefully unrelated to the mould we start getting the sniffles, spring colds & allergies. Luckily for all these problems there's a natural solution. Put down the nasties and the toxic sprays and have a look at these tips for a natural and healthy start to spring.

Nature's spring clean

Ever thought about making your own natural cleaning products? Ditch the harmful chemicals and use these natural ingredients for a lifestyle change that is good for your health, the environment, internal pollution, your pets, your houseplants and your bank balance.

Our Naissance Castile Soap is a good soap base as it acts as a natural solvent, removing dirt from your body, laundry, dishes, floors and surfaces without the need for SLS, SLES or parabens. You can combine Naissance Castile Soap with essential oils to create your own beautifully natural perfumed soap.

Essential oils can also be used for their antiseptic properties as well as their aroma. Adding Tea Tree oil to some sodium bicarbonate or vinegar makes a natural and safe mould remedy in the home. Other essential oils that can be used in natural cleaning products are Lavender, Lemon or Eucalyptus. And why not add a nice fresh essence with some of the citrus oils like Grapefruit, Orange, Lime or Lemon essential oils.

One simple home spray recipe can be made by mixing together:

150ml of water
1 tablespoon of vinegar
3 drops of lemon and lavender essential oils

The flowers are back... and so are the allergies!

Did you know that some essential oils like Roman Chamomile, Lavender and Peppermint can help you ease the annoying symptoms of seasonal allergies? Try and vaporise these oils in your office or house, or mix some drops with a vegetable oil like Sweet Almond or Grapeseed that you can use on your skin whenever you need some relief.

Not feeling the spring in your step?

Finally, if you need some energy because the warmer spring days are making you feel sleepy, you can try some of our citrus oils like Orange, Mandarin, Lemon or Grapefruit or maybe some Spearmint to wake up your mind and make you feel more energised. If you fancy having something ready for you, try Energising Massage oil for a treat that will help you feel revitalized.

We hope you enjoyed our Spring tips! Hopefully they make it a little bit easier for you to enjoy the season, the flowers and the sun :)
